Saying he is against tolls and legalizing recreational marijuana, Trumbull first selectman Timothy Herbst formally entered the crowded race for governor Thursday. Standing at Trumbull High School on the 19th anniversary of his graduation, Herbst told supporters that he would bring a new vision to Hartford.
“I’m doing this because it is time we elect a governor who is focused on the next generation and not on the Hartford insiders who are focused on the next election,” Herbst told Capitol Watch in an interview before his announcement. “Let me be very, very clear. We need a proven reformer and a Hartford outsider, and that is what I am. You’re not going to change Hartford by bringing the same people back to sit in different chairs.”
