TRUMBULL — GOP gubernatorial candidate and former Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst announced eight new endorsements Monday, including the unanimous endorsement of the East Haven Republican Town Committee and Mayor Joe Maturo. Herbst has announced 112 total endorsements from current and former GOP officials, party leaders and party committees.

“Our campaign to upend business-as-usual in Hartford, reverse the job-crushing agenda of Gov. Malloy and restore prosperity to Connecticut continues to build momentum every day,” Herbst said. “Republicans from every corner of our state are rallying to our campaign to elect a new generation of leadership to save Connecticut.”

East Haven RTC Chairman Robert Parente

“The East Haven RTC is pleased to report that we have unanimously voted to endorse Tim Herbst as the Republican nominee for the upcoming 2018 Connecticut gubernatorial race,” said East Haven Republican Town Committee Chairman Robert Parente. “Tim Herbst’s platform, along with his strong conservative record, seems to best embody the direction our town committee hopes to see the State of Connecticut pursue for the next four years.”

“As First Selectman in Trumbull, he vigorously and successfully fought to bring Trumbull back from the edge of financial ruin,” Parente continued. “Our hope is that he can do the same for us on the state level.”

“Tim’s platform of fiscal reform includes many components important to our municipalities,” Parente noted. “He has pledged to dismantle the current ineffective and cumbersome Department of Motor Vehicles, he has pledged to support our military and contractors and Tim has committed to common sense support of both the U.S. and Connecticut Constitutions.”

“Tim Herbst’s combination of faith-based values, commitment to conservative fiscal plans and successful track record make him the candidate of choice,” Parente said.

East Haven Mayor Joe Maturo

“As a fellow municipal leader, I’ve seen first hand the dedication, commitment and leadership Tim Herbst brought to Trumbull,” said East Haven Mayor Joe Maturo. “Tim has a record of proven reform, a track record of winning tough fights and will be a fearless champion for hardworking Connecticut taxpayers as our next governor.”

Former Ansonia RTC Chairman Irving Reed

“Tim Herbst is far and away the best candidate to lead the State of Connecticut,” said former Ansonia Republican Town Committee Chairman Irving Reed.
