TRUMBULL — GOP gubernatorial candidate and former Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst announced nine new endorsements Tuesday, bringing the total number of current and former GOP officials, party committees and party leaders who have endorsed Herbst to 130.

“I am overwhelmed by the extraordinary momentum our campaign to upend business-as-usual and restore prosperity to our state is gaining every single day in this final run-up to the GOP Convention on May 12,” Herbst said. “Republicans from every corner of Connecticut are rallying to our campaign to defeat Gov. Malloy’s chosen successor in November and save our state.”

Herbst’s nine new endorsements come on the heels of a major endorsement of his campaign by former Senate Minority Leader and GOP gubernatorial candidate John McKinney Monday — one of only two Republicans to reach the August GOP Primary for governor in 2014.

State Representative Pam Staneski, District 119

“Connecticut needs a leader in the governors office who will always put taxpayers and the next generation ahead of special interests and the next election,” said State Representative Pam Staneski. “Tim Herbst is a tireless advocate for hard-working taxpayers, led a remarkable turnaround in Trumbull and is the leader we need to save our state.”

CTGOP State Central Committee Member Michael McDonald, District 2

“In this critical election for the future of our state we must nominate a Republican candidate with a track record of winning tough fights and with a compelling message to win in November,” said CTGOP State Central Committee Member Michael McDonald. “Tim Herbst won four straight elections in Trumbull, carrying super-majorities on the town council every time he was on the ballot, and led our state-wide Republican ticket in 2014, coming thousands of votes closer to victory than our nominee for governor. Tim also led an incredible turnaround in Trumbull, tackling many of the same issues that plague our state. Tim is the right choice for governor forRepublicans who want to win in November and save our state.”

CTGOP State Central Committee Member Paul Carbo, District 34

“I put my support behind Tim Herbst 100 percent,” said CTGOP State Central Committee Member Paul Carbo. “Tim is the only candidate who can turn our state around at a time when we need it most.”

Berlin Republican Town Committee Chair Anne Reilly

“After eight years of abject failure from our state government, the time has come to nominate a candidate who will not only win but go to Hartford ready to completely dismantle the status quo,”  said Berlin RTC Chair Anne Reilly. “With Tim Herbst, what you see is what you get and at a time when so many people have lost confidence in their leaders, I believe Tim’s honesty, tenacity, sincerity and grit is exactly what we need in the next Governor and that’s why I’m endorsing him.”

Enfield Board of Education Member and 2018 Republican of the Year Chris Rutledge

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That is what we have done for far too long in Connecticut and that is why Tim Herbst needs to be our next Governor,” said Enfield Board of Education member Chris Rutledge. “Tim has the right ideas, the resolve to drive his message home and the tenacity to run a demanding campaign while challenging the status quo. For these reasons and more, I wholeheartedly endorse Tim Herbst to be the Republican nominee and to be the next Governor of Connecticut.”
