TRUMBULL — GOP gubernatorial candidate and former Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst won a survey conducted by the Connecticut Republican Party asking viewers to decide who they thought won the first GOP gubernatorial debate held in Windsor on Wednesday evening.
The CTGOP announced the results of the survey via Twitter on Friday:
Tim Herbst 28%
Prasad Srinivasan 22%
Peter Lumaj 18%
Mike Handler 15%
Dave Walker 10%
Toni Boucher 2%
Steve Obsitnik 2%
“I have been overwhelmed by the number of Connecticut voters who have contacted our campaign since Wednesday to say I have their vote or to ask how they can get involved to help us win,” Herbst said.
“Our campaign to upend business as usual in Hartford continues to gain momentum every day and across every part of Connecticut,” Herbst continued.
“Struggling Connecticut voters agree that we need to elect a proven reformer and Hartford outsider to tackle the serious challenges facing our state and once again make the reality of Connecticut live up to the promise of Connecticut,” Herbst said.
“If we want different results from Hartford, we simply need to send a new generation of leadership to Hartford and retire the insiders who have pushed our state into fiscal ruin,” he said.
