Primaries can be nasty battles with personal attacks that lead to long-lasting, bitter feelings.
Despite the political shots that will be coming this year, Republican candidate Timothy Herbst is calling upon all of his fellow gubernatorial aspirants to pledge to support the party’s nominee after the August primary.
Through the years, Herbst has seen candidates avoid lifting a finger to help a former rival in the general election.
“I’ve seen the backbiting, the disdain, the bruised egos, the undermining,’’ Herbst told Capitol Watch in an interview. “This is why Republicans lose and Democrats win. The Democrats are very good at falling in line after an election.’’
