TRUMBULL -- GOP gubernatorial candidate and former Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst announced the endorsement Thursday of the Central Connecticut State University College Republicans as grassroots conservative figures and organizations continue to rally behind Herbst.
"As a 37 year-old running for the state's highest office and hoping to raise a family in this state, I know how daunting the lack of opportunity seems for young people trying to stay and build a future here in Connecticut," Herbst said. "That is why I am so passionate about fighting to restore prosperity to our state by electing a new generation of leaders to upend business-as-usual in Hartford and tackle the fiscal challenges that hold us back."
Andrew Lanciotto, Vice President of the CCSU College Republicans, said Herbst offers young people in Connecticut the kind of bold, optimistic leadership they crave.
"Central Connecticut College Republicans are incredibly excited to offer our endorsement to proven reformer and Hartford outsider Tim Herbst," Lanciotto said. "Tim wants to make Connecticut the kind of place where young people can find opportunity, families can thrive and retirees can afford to stay — close to their children and grandchildren."
"Young people in Connecticut need a champion who will put the next generation before the next election," Lanciotto continued. "Tim Herbst led a remarkable turnaround in Trumbull and has the right vision to bring fundamental change to Hartford and restore prosperity to our state."
