Members of Congress enjoy famously generous federal health coverage benefits—but the evidence continues to show that the average Connecticut state government employee does even better.
Some unusual new evidence has surfaced in the persons of Sen. Richard Blumenthal, former Sen. Joseph Lieberman, U.S. Rep. John Larson, and former U.S. Reps. Rob Simmons and Chris Shays.
This information is emerging now because Tim Herbst, a candidate for next year's Republican gubernatorial nomination, requested health coverage information on Shays and the others from the state comptroller. He gave the information to Government Watch, which got through to four out of the five congressional veterans on the phone—all but Lieberman, who did not return a call to his New York law office.
